Balancing Chakras with Essential Oils

Essential oils have bountiful benefits with their beautiful scents. I like to use essential oils during my Reiki, Sound Healing and KALI sessions. You can use a single oil such as Lavender, Cedarwood, and Frankincense, to name but a few, or you can use a blend incorporating various oils to create an invigorating olfactory experience.

Our olfactory system is connected to the limbic system in the brain—the part of the brain which controls functions such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, memory, stress levels and hormone balance. By pairing an essential oil with a crystal and chakra center, it balances and aligns the frequency of that chakra that may need a little boost.

I use Young Living essential oils for their high quality, high frequency, and purity. Some essential oils, like Lavender can be used for different chakras, and some are best paired to a specific chakra. Here are a few examples.

The Root chakra (Muladhara in Sanskrit) sits at the base of the spine. It is associated with a feeling of being grounded and stable, which strikes a chord with Young Living’s empowering Believe essential oil blend. “This is infused with Frankincense, helping to create a grounding sense of balance.

Moving upwards from the Root chakra, the Pelvic or Sacral chakra (Svadhishthana). It is associated with creativity and relationships, while the Solar Plexus chakra (Manipura), which is also referred to as the fire center, sits between the navel and the rib cage and is linked to confidence and willpower. Young Living’s Harmony essential oil blend can be used for both these chakras.

The Heart chakra (Anahata) is associated with love and compassion for self and others, so the “Rose essential oil notes found in Young Living’s soothing White Angelica fragrance and uplifting Joy blend may inspire you to open your Heart chakra, supporting unconditional love and offering a sense of confidence and calm,” says Dailey, Young Living’s essential oil educator.

The Throat chakra (Vishuddhi), which sits at the base of the throat is the home of communication, while the Third-Eye chakra (Ajna) can be found between the brows, and is seen as your centre of intuition, providing inner guidance. Finally, the Crown chakra (Sahasrara) is considered to connect you to the infinite, bringing positivity and tranquillity. Lavender can be used for these three chakras. There are blends that are specific to each of these chakras, for example, Valor for the Throat chakra, Awaken for the Third-eye chakra, and inspiration for the Crown chakra.

The idea of the energy body and keeping chakras open and aligned may sound complicated, but as energy healing is intrinsically linked with chakras, you’ll reap the benefits during your reiki, sound healing and KALI sessions!
